How to Make a Better Fit between eLearning and Adult Education: An Andragogy Application

Synopsis:
Effective instructional design targeting adult learners, e.g., graduate students, university instructors, professional workers, and using digital learning platforms have been increasingly recognized in context of formal and non-formal education. In the momentum of online education, andragogy and its principles offer interesting starting points to synergize itself into eLearning for creating better fit learning programs for adults. In this talk, a case study of continuing professional development, in particular context of Khon Kaen University Smart Learning Academy, for in-service teachers are presented. Moreover, several issues concerning the adult training approach, including personalized professional training system, design of professional intensive workshop and implementation results are revealed as well.

Bio:

Dr. Niwat is currently an assistant professor at Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, and he is now in charge of Deputy Dean of Research and Creative Educational Innovation at the faculty. He is a co-founder of Khon Kaen University Smart Learning Innovation at the university. In term of professional community, he is, currently, an Executive Committee represented Thailand in the Asia-Pacific Society on Computers in Education. His research interests focus on digital learning, technology-enhanced learning in STEM disciplines, and TPACK. He serves as editorial board of international journals, and he has also been Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator for both international and national research funding.
