Synopsis:
Do my students understand? How do I know if my students get the key learning points?
In this work, we collected informal reflections from learners. Using the reflections, we trained machine learning models to automatically identify reflections with doubt content and find similarity scores to learning objectives. These models extract useful insights for instructors to derive actionable plans for timely adjustments and feedback to students. Our pilot deployment of a system showed that our approach delivers promising potential for learner-centered teaching and personalized learning
